HAPPY NEW YEAR !

May we wish all our friends and supporters a very Happy New Year.

The first task for the band in 2020 is the “Brass in the Wire” contest in Warrington on the 26th January.   We will also be competing at the Yorkshire Regional Championships at Huddersfield Town Hall on the 7th March.

The concert season starts on afternoon of Sunday the 26th April when the band is appearing at St Andrew’s Methodist church in Mirfield.  This is closely followed by a VE day celebration concert at St Stephen’s church in Lindley on the 2nd May.

At the end of 2019 the band was pleased to welcome Gareth Owen flugel.  Gareth is well respected locally for his work on cornet with top bands like Grimethorpe, however following a break he has now returned to banding on the flugel seat.

Also, at the end of last year RNCM student Dan Chan joined the band on Solo Euphonium. Dan is from Hong Kong where much of his playing experience was within wind and concert bands.   Following his graduation from the Hong Kong Baptist University Dan chose to come to the UK to study euphonium under Steven Mead and David Thornton. He is looking forward to expanding his brass band experience at Lindley

Good News!

You still have two chances to see the band perform this year.

On Sunday 15th December the band are in playing in their annual “Christmas on the Hill” concert at Huddersfield YMCA starting at 7pm.

On Friday 20th December we are appearing in our 24th Christmas Gala Evening at St Paul’s Hall Huddersfield, with special guests Huddersfield Choral Youth Choir.  This concert will be compered by David Hoyle from
Radio Leeds’ Yorkshire Brass.  It starts at 7.30 and tickets are £10 including refreshments.
For tickets for either concert contact the Band on 07792 722190

Have a Very Happy Lindley Christmas!

Lindley is delighted to announce their first overseas signing.  Former NYBBS member Bella Nutter has joined the bands horn section.  She is from the Isle of Man and previously played solo horn with the Ramsey Town Band.  She has moved to Huddersfield to study Physiotherapy.

Also joining on 3rd cornet is Sarah Wilson.  Talented musician Sarah is a member of the well renowned Elland Silver Youth band, with who she has competed in two consecutive European Championships.  Sarah ‘s arrival completes the Lindley cornet section.
